Memorial Gifts

Honor the memory of a loved one while helping this ministry continue for years to come.

In the spring of 2003, Camp Geddie received a special gift from the congregation of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Pictou. The session of St.Andrews donated funds to erect a new cabin in memory of MacKenzie “Mac” and Louise “Cov” Langille. The Langilles were great supporters of their Church and of Camp Geddie.

The funds were made available from a bequest made by the Langilles to St. Andrews and the labour for the project was provided by the Airfield Engineering Flight of Pictou.

As a legacy to the Family, the cabin is known as the Langille Cabin and will benefit our campers for many years.

HOW YOUR GIFT WILL SERVE

Camp Geddie is operated by the Synod of the Atlantic Provinces of the Presbyterian Church in Canada. For 64 years it has been dedicated to a camping ministry with children, young people and adults. Participants enjoy year-round educational programs, focusing on the study of God’s Word in a setting which allows campers to appreciate the beauty of God’s world.

Geddie’s facilities include a modern, year-round conference centre, enabling the site to be used for retreats, training seminars, and university workshops.

Operating costs are high and contributions are welcome. Camperships are available to those who cannot afford the full registration fee. Donations to this program are also welcome.

PLANNED GIVING OPTIONS

Many planned giving options exist including bequests, gifts of life insurance or outright gifts of cash. For information of how to arrange a gift, please contact the treasurer.

Adopt a Cabin

There are currently six cabins that were built in the early 1980’s that sleep 15 people each. After more than 20 years they are need of some tender loving care.

It is our hope to have a congregation or group choose one cabin to refurbish and maintain as we look forward to the next 60 years of camping ministry here on the Northumberland Strait.

If you have been to camp recently you may have noticed that work has begun:
Cabin 1: The Kinsmen Club of New Glasgow
Cabin 2: Little Harbour Presbyterian Church
Cabin 4: Knox Presbyterian Church, Halifax
Cabin 5: St. David's, Toney River & St. George's, River John
Cabin 6: work is being completed through donations from Friends & Alumni
Cabin 7: work is being completed through a grant from Dept of Recreation, Gov't of NS
