Features of the camp include a wide, sandy beach, seven sleeping cabins, the Irwin Lodge, which also serves as a dining hall, a craft & rainy day recreation building, and an outdoor chapel. The site also affords ample opportunity for canoeing, hiking, sports and much more!

OUR LEADERSHIP

HISTORY

The history of Camp Geddie dates back to 1946 when a piece of land in Merigomish was offered to the Presbyterian Church in Canada as the site of a new camp to be known as Camp Geddie. The name was chosen in honor of John Geddie, first missionary of the Presbyterian Church in Canada.

Camp Geddie has been in a constant state of change since the first days when the camp 'inherited' an old building that became the main lodge; early tents slowly gave way to rustic cabins, crude washhouse facilities, and outbuildings for several purposes.  Today the Camp has up-to-date modern facilities including the Irwin Lodge, which is meant for year-round use as a Retreat/Conference Center, the Margaret MacDougall Lodge that offers accommodation for smaller groups and individuals, as well as numerous cabins for Staff, L.I.T. participants, and campers.

In 2006 Campers near and far gathered to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Christian witness at Camp Geddie. The  celebrations saw former campers and staff return from across Canada and further abroad to remember and give thanks for the continued witness of the Camp and the vitality of the present program. Weekend celebrations marked the anniversary culminating in a wonderful worship experience at which the past was remembered, the present celebrated, and the future confidently entrusted into the care of Christ.

Camp Geddie is owned and operated by The Presbyterian Church in Canada and is accredited by the Camping Association of Nova Scotia
